Requirements
The general requirements for acceptance of soil at the facility are as follows:

• No soil containing free liquids;
• No flammable solids
• No liquids in containers;
• No soils with concentrations of metals greater than
the BC CSR Schedule 4, 5 and/or 10, Commercial
land use (CL) standards; and,
• No soils with concentrations of polychlorinated
biphenyls greater than the BC CSR 4, 5 and/or 10,
CL standards.

Back to Earth Soil Remediation Ltd. (BTE) operates as a hazardous & non-hazardous waste (HW) treatment facility in accordance with the requirements and standards of the BC Environmental Management Act, which includes the Hazardous Waste Regulation (HWR) and the Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR).

The overall purpose of the facility is to receive hydrocarbon contaminated soil from off-site sources and treat the soil to a level that meets standards for use as fill: on-site, sites being developed in the area, or for cover material in municipal landfills.
​
The contaminated soil originates from the remediation of contaminated sites primarily in the Prince George area, but may be received from any site for which disposal at the facility is economically viable.
